Second Life Training and Education Tools
We have created several tools that are useful for conducting training sessions,
meetings and events
in Second Life and that are available for purchase in .eduStore on Education Island.
Some of the tools are linked to the database and data are available on the web
for review, searching and statistics.
cKMLite is a tool that allows you to create mind maps, flow charts and diagrams in Second Life,
and attach contents to individual containers. cKMLite is Second Life only version.
The full version of Collaboration Knowledge Management tool
allows you to created unlimited number of charts, and has synchronized web interface with
an option to search contents.
One of the drawbacks
of group meetings in Second
Life is that it is hard to organize orderly discussion.
There is no built-in way to indicate that person wants
to talk or ask a question, so quite often several people
start talking at once, than stop at the same time, then start
talking simultaneously again, and so on.
Meeting Moderator tool takes care of this problem. It
allows meeting participants to indicate their desire to talk,
and meeting moderator to see the list of people who
want to talk, select who talks next or remove a person
from the list.
Quiz / Survey allows you to give quizzes, tests,
surveys or polls in Second Life. The questions, choices and options are configurable via the notecards.
Optionally you can subscribe to web-based service so that all answers will be recorded and you will
have access to all data and statistics. See example here,
use login - sltest, password - sltest.
Note: If you want to use web-based service, you need to register quiz/survey
before you start using it.
Visitor Logger records visitors to your
Second Life location(s)
in the database. You are then able to review logs and statistics for selected dates using web
access to the database.
Education Island telehub logs and statistics can be viewed as an example
here
(use login: sltest, password: sltest).
Note: You have to register visitor logger
before you start using it.
We have several
models of screens that show streaming video and / or slideshows, and include a
pointer for a presenter to highlight a specific location on the screen - in
the same manner real-life pointers do.
All screens are customizable and are configurable by notecards.
Optionally, you can subscribe to a service that includes unlimited number of screens,
their customization and technical support, and hosting of your streaming video on our web servers -
please, contact us
for details.

distribute the folder with class materials to all students in the class, and
